2015 Highlights

  • Jan. 18: A special worship service is held with Pastor Hein’s annual report commemorating the 60th anniversary of the congregation and focusing on the building, the baptismal font, the altar for sacraments, the altar for worship, the lectern, the pulpit, and the pews.
  • Feb. 1: A special worship service explaining the liturgy with former vicar, Seminarian Rob Sauers, assisting Pastor Hein.
  • Feb. 18: Mid-week Lenten Services begin with the theme of “Gratitude for God’s Geographic Grace.” Services are preceded by soup suppers.
  • Mar. 13-15: 1 child from Grace competes with Berea at the CLC Grade School tournament in Eau Claire, WI.
  • Apr. 1: Grace School presents a student fair focused on chemistry.
  • Apr. 5: Easter worship with breakfast prior to the service.
  • Apr. 20-24: Grace students complete the Iowa Basics Testing.
  • Apr. 21-23: Photo sessions for the 2015 Grace pictorial directory.
  • May 1: Kindergarten visitor’s day at Grace and High School Visitor’s Day at Immanuel Lutheran in Eau Claire, WI.
  • May 8: Field day for area CLC schools is hosted by Berea.
  • May 17: Confirmation of Julianna Hein, Olivia Lentz and Jack Maki.
  • May 21: Grace School spring program presents “Queen Arithmetic.”
  • May 22: Last day for Grace School as summer break begins.
  • May 24: Grace School graduation (Megan DeBoer and Julianna Hein) and recognition of other graduates (Charles Davis, Emily Hein, John Maki, Jack McDonald, Jacob Rhinesmith, Ned Sandhoefner, Alvin Kanneh)
  • June 4: Grace School students, parents, and supporters walk in Spring Lake Park Tower Days Parade promoting our Christian Day school.
  • June 7: Minnesota Delegate Conference is held at Eagle Lake
  • June 14: Grace Lutheran 60th Anniversary Service with potluck meal following. Pastor Neal Radichel, former Grace member, is our guest speaker.
  • June 16-18: Pastor Hein attends the CLC Pastoral Conference held in Eau Claire, WI.
  • Aug. 3-7: Vacation Bible School is held with 27 students enrolled. The theme of the week is “Missionaries of Christ.”
  • Aug. 24: School year begins at Immanuel Lutheran in Eau Claire, WI, with two Grace members (David and Julianna Hein) in the high school and one Grace member (NedSandhoefner) in thecollege pursuing ateaching degree.
  • Aug. 31: Opening of 2015-16 school year at Grace with 16 children enrolled in grades Kindergarten through 8th.
  • Sept. 13: Minnesota Delegate Conference is held at Inver Grove Heights Sept. 20: The annual church picnic is held on church grounds.
  • Oct. 6-7: Pastor Hein attends and chairs the Minnesota Pastoral Conference held at Detroit Lakes, MN.
  • Oct. 11: Mission Festival is held with Pastor James Albrecht as our guest preacher. The annual blood drive is held with 22 units donated.
  • Oct. 13: Grade school field trip to Pavek Museum of Broadcasting.
  • Oct. 14-16: Our teachers attend the CLC Teachers’ Conference in Inver Grove Heights, MN.
  • Nov. 1: Reformation is observed with a service focused on the backgrounds of various writers of some of our hymns.
  • Nov. 2-14: Pastor Hein travels to Liberia to explore mission work initiated by Alvin Jask. A Bible training seminar is conducted Nov. 9-11.
  • Dec. 2: Mid-week Advent worship services begin with meditations on the theme, “Jesus Tender Shepherd, Hear Me”
  • Dec. 6: Three copies of The Lutheran Hymnal in large print are available for use by members.
  • Dec. 10: Grace grade school presents a concert at the Northtown Mall.
  • Dec. 16: Congregational Christmas dinner and candlelight worship service Dec. 20: Christmas caroling to shut-ins
  • Dec. 24: Christmas Eve worship service is held in which the children present the message, “The Good Shepherd is Born!”
  • Dec. 31: New Years Eve Communion service followed by fellowship.
